  11. I have a phone controled switch I use to turn on my computer and have
  12. it
  13. boot a DOS version of qmodem in host mode.
  14. The switch shuts the computer off 5 mins after I hang up.
  15. When I moved into Win95 I need a way to do this without going into
  16. Winows.
  17. Answer, The MSDOS.SYS in Win95 is a text file.
  18. Change the BootGUI=0 to BootGUI=1 and you boot into DOS.
  19. You can always type WIN to start Win95 from there.

  26. Fixing the Grayed out Save Password Box

  30. If when you start a Dial-Up connection, the Save Password is Grayed
  31. out:
  32. Make sure that Client for Microsoft Networks is installed as part of
  33. your
  34. Network Setup.

  36. You need to have it installed, as well as the Dial-Up Adapter and the
  37. TCP/IP
  38. protocol.

  47. To have it be OFF, simply add the line:

  58.   2. Click the Restart Computer option
  59.   3. While holding down the SHIFT key, click YES
  60.   4. Windows 95 will now restart without executing a complete warm
  61. boot

  72. If you are using a S3 video accelerator card, I believe the Windows
  73. 95
  74. documentation says
  75. DO NOT INSTALL YOUR MODEM ON COM PORT 4.
  76. The modem will appear to work fine in DOS mode but will not respond
  77. in
  78. Windows.
  79. The only two solutions are to change the COM port and IRQ for the
  80. modem or
  81. get a new video card.

  88. Potential problems leaving 16-bit winsock.dll's
  89.

  92. If you re having problems getting some of your winsock applications
  93. to work under Win95, make sure you delete any old 16-bit
  94. winsock.dll's.

  96. If this file is in the directory were the application resides, it
  97. could
  98. cause problems. Programs that could have problems like this are:
  99.  
  100.    * Ewan.exe (Telnet app)
  101.    * WSIRC.exe (IRC app)
  102.    * WSGopher.exe (Gopher app)
  103.    * NX.Exe (NewsXpress)
  104.    * Netscape v.1.0
  105.  
  106. We found that if the software listed above is in the same directory
  107. as the
  108. Trumpet Winsock.dll file, then they will NOT work under the MS-TCP/IP
  109. stack.

  126.   7. Set Optimize Access pattern for Quad-speed or higher

  139. Copying Graphics
  140.  
  141. You can copy graphics from a DOS box as well as you can text. For
  142. example,
  143. while running a graphics game, you can press
  144.  
  145.   1. Alt-Enter to make a DOS window
  146.   2. Click on the upper left hand corner
  147.   3. Select Edit/Mark
  148.   4. Select a region with the mouse
  149.   5. Select Edit/Copy or press the Enter key
  150.   6. You can then paste it into another program
  151.  
  152. Thomas tried it on Heretic. I tried in on DOOM2. Everything worked
  153. fine
